Cantilevered architecture over a natural stream
If you ever get a chance to take a day trip when in the Pittsburgh, PA area, be sure and take the guided tour through Fallingwater! There is a one hour guided tour, a longer guided tour and a self-guided tour.
The genius of Frank Lloyd Wright is evident in this fantastic home which was so far ahead of its time. Even the furniture was designed by Mr. Wright. He coined the phrase "form follows function" and he wanted to insure that every detail of ambience was addressed. Every room has both a private bath and terrace. Frank Lloyd Wright used building materials native to the area and designed the structure to blend into the countryside.
You can explore more about this controversial, flamboyant and remarkable architect online. The residence is now owned and operated by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
